ABOUT ME

This guy is the man I love. We have been married almost a decade now. No kids in those years (for now, by choice), but he has given me more memories and laughs than I can count.
Simply, he makes me better, and I wouldn't trade the last 8 years of my life with him for anything.

Well, this blog is not about cake if that's what you are thinking (I'll explain in a minute) ... how misleading of me right? Sorry 'bout that. Though I have been known to make a pretty mean chocolate cake from time to time, this blog is a place where you will find some of the pieces that help make up my inspired, creative and refreshed life.

TTT has a two-fold meaning. Part of its name comes from my nickname, "Torta." It is the term of endearment from my husband. "Torta" is cake in Spanish (and no he is not of Latin descent, just go with it, ha). It all started one day after we were married. I came home in a new pair of jeans that obviously were just the right fit, and he yelled, "Mmm, look at 'dem cakes!" And yes, he said it just like that, haha. Well, I was so caught off guard that a deep belly laugh ensued thereafter, with a few snorts thrown in for good measure. After that, the phrase was a constant joke in our house, until it evolved into a nickname after his university Spanish classes. It has followed me ever since! Now, if all that was TMI or a little too intimate for you, please forgive. I will say that the story behind the nickname is precious to me because it's creation symbolizes a very precious gift that I have in my husband  ... not to take life so seriously and learn to make fun of yourself.  :)

The TALL part comes from the fact that I come from a family of giants ... allmost literally ... with none of us being under six feet tall (women included). The only reason that is significant to me is, well, I married into a family that is quite the opposite in stature. Henceforth, my husband is a bit vertically challenged, but what he lacks in height is totally made up for by his character, humor and love for life ... Oh, and let's not forget good looks.  ;) He at 5'7 and myself at 6'2 are quite a vision walking down the sidewalk. Oh, the looks we receive ... priceless! However, it's what makes us unique, and one of my favorite things about us. I love for people to take risks ... to step outside of what "should be done," or "what has always been," for the chance at something truly great to take place.

So, there you have it: The Tall Tortas.  Your life is complete. You're welcome!

This was my (our) most recent adventure. We lived in Sydney for awhile and it was pretty amazing.

We got to see and do some pretty cool stuff, and make lots of new friends.

We currently reside in the small town of West Monroe while my husband finishes his Masters Degree. West Monroe is the town where are families are from.
